So i would use the other 20a circuit, use 12g wire yes its ok to have outlets & lights on the same circuit of course the problem is if you are using a tool & kick the breaker off your lights go off.

Nec code prohibits mixing lighting and outlets on a kitchen small appliance outlet circuit (outlets over counters). Not only were the lights out, but some adjacent outlets in the next room. If the lights are on the same circuit, you can be left in the dark.


You just use common sense.
